CHRO Jabil Circuit
I have over a 45-year career that started in 1970 as a Special Needs Educator. After 9 years, I shifted my focus to the development of leaders and was employed by Wang Laboratories in the Human Resources Development (HRD) group. In my 10 years at Wang, I was promoted several times and prior to my leaving Wang, I was the Senior Director of HRD for Corporate Headquarters. Over this period of time, I had several international assignments that resulted in relocating to Beijing, China, Dublin, Ireland and Sterling, Scotland. I was recruited by Cabot Corporation, a Boston-based specialty Chemical Company, and over my almost 19 years was promoted to the CHRO position. The 6 years prior to my retiring from Cabot, I was asked by the Cabot Board of Directors to report to the Chairman of the Board with my main focus to develop internal successor candidates for key executive role, including: CEO, President and CFO. Upon retiring, I started teaching as an Adjunct Professor at Northeastern University and kicked off a consulting business. After about a year, a search firm that was seeking candidates for an executive development specialist role contacted me. Jabil Circuit offered me this role in 2011. Since 2011, I have been asked to take on more and more responsibility and in 2014, I was asked to fill the role of CHRO. I have proudly led Jabil’s Human Resources Organization for almost two years. During that time, there were several strategic initiatives that we focused our energy on which included; development of the talent in HR as well as the businesses, determining the best delivery model for HR services and ensuring these services are providing our employees with the best service at the best cost. Another area that we are very proud of is the leveraging of our multi-generational employees by creating a voice for Jabil’s diverse workforce.
In addition, the development of CHRO successors was at the top of my priority list. With the identification of internal candidates and the recruitment of external talent, the development of successor candidates, has resulted in my ability to be able to retire, again, from the CHRO position and go back to my passion to help employees learn and grow. I am currently the Executive Coach at Jabil. My focus is on identifying and developing future leaders.
